Are you interested in working in the field of human rights and development with a dynamic young team in the Hague? Are you a student or would you like to do voluntary work? We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to support equalinrights in its work and contribute to new programmes being developed for a minimum 6 month period from April 2008.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Research on core concepts and processes concerning human rights-based strategies; Communities of Practice and effective learning for societal change;
- Organising online discussions for the network of practitioners;
- Organising dialogues and exchanges for development and human rights actors in the Netherlands;
- Support in documenting innovative practices for upstream use of human rights;
- Support in fundraising research and drafting proposals;
- Updating the content of the equalinrights website;
- Coordinating the monthly newsletter, Equalinfo.
Qualifications and skills
You should be a self-motivated, engaging person with good communications skills and a strong personal commitment to human rights and poverty issues. The particular qualifications and skills sought include:
- BA (HBO) degree in a relevant field, with a grounding in development and human rights;
- Experience in event organisation;
- Some experience in using human rights-based strategies for development;
- Language skills: fluent English, (ability to work in French, Dutch and/or Spanish preferred).

A great work environment with a dynamic young team in The Hague, the Netherlands. Internships will not be paid, but equalinrights will make a contribution to travel costs and support participation in relevant events in the Netherlands.
