CORE AND PROJECT FUNDING

Equalinrights is grateful to all our Funders for their support and commitment.

 CORE FUNDER

The Interchurch Organisation for Development Co-operation (ICCO) is a Dutch Co-Funding Development Organisation, founded in 1965, that works towards a world where poverty and injustice are no longer present. It advocates a human rights-based approach in its work.

ICCO carries out its mission primarily by facilitating, financially and otherwise, development programmes and projects initiated by civil society organisations. It offers local partners support and services in areas such as organisation development and advocacy efforts. The organisation is currently active in 60 countries and working with some 950 local organisations. Other activities include:

  • Humanitarian assistance
  • Capacity building of local organisations
  • Personnel cooperation, including missions, exchanges and staff deployment
  • Providing loans and guarantees to economic development projects aimed at opening markets and making them more equitable

Together with six other Dutch organisations, ICCO has formed an alliance to ensure a more comprehensive and efficient support for southern  partner-organisations. ICCO's current focus on three key themes:

  1. Access to basic social services
  2. Fair economic development
  3. Democratisation and peace-building

At present, ICCO provides sole financial support for equalinrights. ICCO was also a major instigator behind the creation of equalinrights and has played a significant role in its conceptual development. ICCO continues to offer support for both strategy and operational issues with Mr Pim Verhallen, Policy Officer at ICCO, as a member of the equalinrights Steering Committee and as direct liaison.

We note though that equalinrights is an independent not-for-profit organisation and is not bound by ICCO policy, focus-countries, methodology or practice.
